Built ca. 1859 it was a general mercontile and later a post office.  Just down the road was the steamboat stop on the Gasconade River where lots of product was moved to Hermann and beyond.  There was a lot of tie hacking that was also being rafted down river to supply the new rail link between St. Louis and Jefferson City.
